Burnham-On-Sea Police station has escaped a new round of cost-cutting across the region.
From 3rd September, the opening hours of several police enquiry offices across Somerset are changing following a review of the service.
Several stations in Somerset are having their hours reduced, but a spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the town Police Station’s opening hours will remain unchanged at Monday to Friday 10am-6pm.
A Police spokeswoman said: “Alongside improvements in the police estate and the need to make significant savings, the changes reflect the low footfall in some areas at certain times of the day.”
“Our priority is to have enquiry offices across the force area open at the times that our communities need them.”
“We will continue to have police enquiry offices open 7 days a week and our neighbourhood police officers will continue to work in their local communities.”
Somerset area commander Supt Mike Prior added: “Next month there will be some changes to our enquiry offices across Somerset to make sure we are open at the times that we are needed the most and that we continue to be visible in our communities.”
“We are committed to keeping our neighbourhood police officers based in their local communities.”
