JOIN THE NEW SUPPORTERS' GROUP FOR BURNHAM-ON-SEA RNLI

Join the new Burnham-On-Sea RNLI Supporters' Group and support the town's lifeboat service.

One man one job has been the policy of the RNLI for many years and at Burnham-On-Sea, the newly established lifeboat Station is following that policy.

a) There is the life-saving team - concerned only with the operation of the lifeboats and rescue.

b) There is also a separate fund-raising team. The local fund-raisers have been in operation for many years collecting and feeding donations into centra] RNLI funds.

c) Now it is time to set up a third group, a Supporters' group.

Supporters are normally local people with an interest in the RNLI, its boats and activities, who will be kept up-to-date with call-outs and rescues and could be expected to speak up for the Lifeboat service in their own daily life circles.

The system eases the pressure on volunteers with their own busy lives to run and allows volunteers to focus on the job they have taken responsibility for. Typically, supporters groups have no hands on responsibility for either life-saving or fund-raising but are nevertheless invaluable.

There may be other activities, which would also be appropriate, but supporters are free to take on as much or as little as they want.

SUPPORTERS:
·
Can do as little or as much as they want to assist from time to time.
· They are not directly involved with fund raising or life saving.
· They are people with an interest in the RNLI, its Lifeboats and activities.
· They will have the knowledge to speak up for the Lifeboat Service in the community.
· They will be kept up to date with latest Call Outs and rescues.
· They can ease the pressure on current volunteers by helping with arranged events.
