Second
rescue in 24 hours for stranded fishing boat on Brean beach

Both
Burnham-On-Sea's lifeboats were launched on Thursday morning (April
30th) to help a fishing boat in difficulty on Brean beach.
The
boat, which had also required assistance from emergency services
on Wednesday
evening, encountered fresh problems on Thursday.
The
owner of the boat had unsuccessfully attempted to launch it on
the next high tide and run aground on the beach.
The
Staines Whitfield and Puffin lifeboats were tasked to assist in
the recovery, as pictured here, but were unsuccessful in floating
the vessel.
The
lifeboat crews were eventually stood down by Swansea Coastguard
Control, and they subsequently returned to Burnham.
An
RNLI spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "This was a last
chance recovery, and the owner has now been advised, by the Coastguard,
to arrange a land-based commercial recovery of the craft."

The
lifeboat's crew attached a rope to boat to try and pull it free...

...
however, the crew's attempts to pull the boat into the sea were
unsuccessful

The
mud-plugged fishing boat was later taken away on a trailer.

Police
and Coastguards from Burnham were also at the scene.
