Burnham-On-Sea youth club members hold their own beach clean

-

Young members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Zone Youth Club have held their own beach clean this week to help tidy up the beach.

When they were designing their programme for the term, some of the young people said they would like to arrange a beach clean.

So 20 of them set off during club time after school and walked along Marine Drive towards the beach, collecting litter as they went, filling large black sacks with rubbish.

Once they’d finished, they were rewarded for their efforts by Fortes Ice Cream Parlor kindly supplying them with free ice creams.

A clun spokeswoman said: “Well done to young people for suggesting it and also taking part!”

The Zone Youth Club is based at the Bay Centre in Burnham’s Cassis Close and meets there every Tuesday during term time from 3.30-5.30pm and welcomes youngsters aged 11-16. The 35 young members enjoy a variety of activities and sports.
