Burnham-On-Sea wildlife carers at Secret World Wildlife Rescue are inviting children aged five to 11 to join them for their Wild Academy workshops over the Easter holidays.

Last year, Secret World staff launched their Wild Academy scheme to get more children outside and connected with nature while the schools are closed.

The centre in East Huntspill is hosting several workshops on 28th March and 4th and 5th April. All sessions will run from 10am until 12 noon.

Each workshop will focus on wildlife, the environment, nature and habitats, explored through games, crafts, experiments, stories and outdoor activities.

Learning and Engagement Officer at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Ellie Wallace commented: “This is a great way to get kids outside and active while the schools are on holiday. We will be showing children what they can do to protect the wildlife and habitats they live in.”

“Children can build up a wildlife passport and collect a stamp for each Wildlife Academy session they attend, from nature detectives to learning about baby animals and eggs.”

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Warm and waterproof clothing are essential. Each session costs £6 per child. Advanced booking is required. To book, please call the centre on 01278 783250 or visit www.secretworld.org

The Easter period is set to be a busy time for Secret World Wildlife Rescue as they open their doors on Friday 30th March and Saturday 31st March for two family fun days.
