Sad ending to search for missing parrot in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Burnham-On-Sea resident Kate Foks had an emotional rollercoaster of a day on Tuesday (March 6th) after appealing to residents to find her missing parrot.

Her Green Cheek Conure parrot, called Kivi, initially escaped through a tiny window opening at her home in Oxford Street at around mid-day on Monday.

She got in touch with Burnham-On-Sea.com to issue an appeal for help and similar appeals were posted on social media.

During Tuesday afternoon, a nearby resident reported the distinctive bird was spotted in their garden and Kate quickly walked there to collect her.

Kate told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I was so grateful that she had been found and got her home and fed her. But she wasn’t well and after about two hours she passed away. It’s so sad, just terrible.”

Kate thanked Burnham-On-Sea.com and those on social media who helped find Kivi. “I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me, but it’s a sad ending.”

The Green Cheeked Parakeet is more commonly known as the Green Cheeked Conure in aviculture. It is a small parrot of the long-tailed group of the New World parrot family and is native to South America.
