Applications are now open for the Coastal Communities Fund – and Burnham-On-Sea MP James Heappey is calling on the communities of Burnham, Highbridge, Brean and Berrow to apply.

A share of the £40million fund aims to support the economic development of coastal communities by awarding grants for sustainable growth and additional jobs.

Back in 2015, Burnham Town Council secured thousands of pounds worth of funding and plans are already underway to submit a new application as we reported last year.

Mr Heappey is hoping for the same success this time around and says: “This is a great opportunity for the coastal communities in Somerset.”

“This money could boost the local economy and help drive both external visitor numbers and inward investment.”

The money is available for investment in jobs, skills and local businesses. The fund has been running since 2012 and aims to help drive economic authority in coastal communities that have struggled to maintain economic growth.

Applications must be received by April 30th and enquiries can be made by emailing coastalcommunitiesfund@communities.gsi.gov.uk
