Kite-making fun day being held at Berrow’s Sundowner Cafe today

-

A Family Fun Fly Day is taking place near Burnham-On-Sea today (Saturday) with funds being raised for Sports Relief.

A fun kite-making session is being held from 11am-4pm at The Sundowner cafe next to Beachside Holiday Park in Berrow, right next to the beach entrance running down onto Berrow Beach.

“There will be plenty of people around to help you make your kite from a ready-to-make kit,” says one of the organisers, Gaynor Brown, from BOS Events.

“Instructors will be on hand to teach you to fly the one you make and other more advanced kites too if you want to try.”

“There will be local club kiters displaying their flying skills in the field besides the cafe too.”

“It’s such an easy sport to get into and can involve all ages. It’s a social activity and even people in a wheelchair can fly a kite so it’s very accessible too.”

“If you put up a kite you can bet someone will come and ask about the one you are flying and where kites can be purchased. You could end up getting so keen that you end up as one of our competitors at one of the Beach Kite Festivals taking place in Berrow on June 2-3 and September 8-9.”

She added: “We’re under cover in the Sundowner Cafe from 11am through lunch to 4pm.

“Kite kits are £5.00 which goes to Sports Relief and the wonderful work they do in supporting local youth activities. Ccome and help us raise money while having fun with your family.”

Refreshments, plenty of play space and parking is available.
