Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser set to pedal 100 miles for cancer charity

-

A Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser is set to pedal 100 miles across London to raise money for a local cancer support charity.

Ian MacBeth is cycling the London to Surrey 100-mile ‘Prudential Ride London Challenge’ this Sunday (July 29th) in aid of Somerset Breast Cancer Now.

Ian said: “I took up cycling in January 2017 as a way to keep fit and it seemed like a good way for me to contribute to the charity’s work.”

“It’s a big step from doing nothing to 100 miles in the saddle and it’s got to be the hardest thing I have ever attempted. It has taken so much preparation and training.”

His wife, Holly, added: “He has been training hard since last January and has put in hundreds of miles. We are so very proud he is doing this for the charity and more importantly in memory of mum Christine Piper.”

The family are founding members of the Somerset Breast Cancer Now group which has now been active for over 20 years, and to date has raised nearly £500,000.
