Highbridge Festival of The Arts 2018 starts today in Burnham-On-Sea

-

The 71st Highbridge Festival Of The Arts, which will be held at Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre and other local venues, begins today (Monday 5th March).

It runs until Saturday 17th March and will feature approximately 2,300 performances over 13 days.

From speech and drama entries to dance and music, the performances will take place at three local venues: The Princess Theatre in Burnham-On-Sea, Highbridge Community Hall and St John’s Church in Highbridge.

From small beginnings in 1948, the Festival has grown to be a large event enjoyed by both adults and children who are talented and brave enough to perform for an audience.

They are given an adjudication at the end of each Class by professional actors, dancers or musicians.

Maureen Phillips, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have a good level of support from our audiences but we will always welcome more people to come along and see live performances of a high standard in all the Performing Arts: Speech and Drama, Dance and Music, both Instrumental and Vocal.”

“We are hoping that you might come along to one of the venues during Festival and spend time watching some of the best amateur performances in the South West.”

“The performers always appreciate an audience. The Coffee and cake are good too!”

“A daily wristband entrance fee costs £2.00 and our Festival Programmes are on Sale at The Princess Theatre and tourist information centre. We hope to be able to welcome you.”
