Over 220 athletes and charity runners completed Burnham-On-Sea’s annual Half Marathon on Sunday (October 7th) in perfect conditions.

The starting gun was fired at 11am at Burnham’s BASC Ground to signal the start of the annual 13-mile run, cheered off by a crowd off spectators.

The event was won in a fast time of 1:15:26 by Wayne Loveridge of Chard, while second in a time of 1:15:50 was Christian Green of Wells Harriers, and third in a time of 1:17:14 was Ian Connock from Weston – all three are pictured above.

The first lady over the finishing line in a time of 1:20:17 was Katie Jemima Synge, pictured here.

The first Burrnham-On-Sea runners home were Will Bailey in a time of 1:24:26 and Burnham Harriers member Matt Powell in a time of 1:30:19 and Kevin Clements in a time of 1:32:39. The full half marathon results are available here.

Organisers said the event had been a great success with 229 runners completing the course. The runners headed along Love Lane and Queen’s Drive, before turning left along the A38 towards Brent Knoll and then on to East Brent, Lympsham, Wick Road and Red Road, before returning to Burnham via Berrow Road.

There was also a successful fun run for children with 32 youngsters and several parents taking part. The full fun run results are available here. The event was won by Emily Murphy in a time of 04:21 while second was Rhys Davies (04:58) and third was Harriet Hobbs (05:00).
