A Burnham-On-Sea couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a surprise visit by the town’s Mayor and Mayoress.

Phyllis and David Spratt were congratulated by Mayor and Mayoress Bill and Frances Hancock plus Town Crier Alistair Murray.

The couple were just 21 years old when they were married in Bristol 60 years ago on 7th June 1958. They moved to Burnham-On-Sea five years ago to be nearer their family.

Cllr Hancock, who recently celebrated his golden wedding anniversary, asked what is the secret to a happy marriage and was told: “Love and honesty are the key.”

Our congratulations to the happy couple.
