bus services to be axed in Burnham-On-Sea and Weston
Motor Services has this week announced that it is ending its local
bus services and school transport services in the Burnham-On-Sea
and Weston-super-Mare areas at the end of April.
firm - which has a fleet of 30 modern and vintage vehicles - is
ending its shopper service that runs to the Tesco store in Burnham-On-Sea.
Somerset Council has been given statutory two months' notice of
the decision by the company, which was set up in 2011 in the town.
Motor Services Managing Director John Wye told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We have taken the decision with a great deal of regret and
it is simply because the market is too challenging with passenger
numbers falling and competition fierce. The council will no doubt
seek replacement suppliers."
