A pub near Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating this week after being named Somerset’s pub of the year for a second year running.

The Crossways Inn in West Huntspill has won the top county award from CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) after impressing the judges with its range of quality real ales and friendly customer service.

The pub’s owner Steve Dean, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are over the moon to have won for a second year running!”

“We were runner-up in 2016 for Somerset pub of the year and then we won in 2017. Each pub of the year from each county goes into the south west regional finals in which we were runner-up last year.”

“The CAMRA rules have changed and the pub of the year was until recently was exempt for entering the following year, but we were very keen to be the first ever back-to-back winners which we are very proud to have achieved in 2018!”

Steve has been bar manager and part owner since 2009. Hwever, in 2016 he and his partner, Abi Havercroft, took over solely and the pub has gone from strength to strength.

The pub team are now waiting to see how they get on in this year’s regional finals.
