Burnham-On-Sea fire crews free passengers trapped in cars after crash

Three people were taken to hospital after a crash in the early hours of Monday morning (June 25th).

Fire engines from Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater and Taunton were called to a two-vehicle collision outside Somerset Care Sedgemoor Community Services in Bath Road, Bridgwater at 1.20am.

Two people had to be cut from their cars and were then rushed to hospital. One other patient was also hospitalised.

A spokesprerson for the fire service said: “On arrival crews confirmed the incident involved two vehicles with two persons still inside. Crews got to work stabilising the vehicles while liaising with paramedics to form a rescue plan.”

“The door of one car was removed using hydraulic cutting gear to release one of the casualties. Hydraulic cutting gear was also used to make a roof flap on the second vehicle, which was on its side, to release the second casualty. Both persons were taken to hospital by ambulance and police also attended.”

A spokesperson for Southwestern Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 1.13am to reports of a road traffic collision. We attended with three ambulances, and it was reported three patients were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital.”
