Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards called to ‘unusual object’ floating in sea

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called out on Tuesday morning (March 6th) after a seafront runner spotted an unusual object floating in the sea.

Coastguards were called out at 9.20am when the lady spotted the object floating in the water near to St Andrew’s Church.

Burnham Coastguard Officer Dave Welland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “With all the recent activity around the search for missing man Dean Tate anything spotted needs to be checked out.”

“We met the lady and checked out the object with binoculars and were able to confirm that it was a large piece of floating drebris.”

“We assured the lady that she hadn’t wasted our time by calling us – it was the right thing to do especially in light of recent events.”

“If you spot anything unusual along the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. It’s always better to get something checked and be safe.”
