Over 120 people attended a fundraising evening held by Burnham-On-Sea’s Chamber of Trade to support town centre projects.

The successful event raised £1,500 and was held on Friday evening (July 27th) at The Oaktree, with music provided by local band Monopole and other entertainment.

Those present included members of the Chamber of Trade, plus Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey, Mayor Bill Hancock and Mayoress Frances Hancock, Town Crier Alasdair Murray, and former MP Tessa Munt plus local councillors.

After a meal, those present took part in a race night, an auction and a raffle.

A Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesman thanked everyone who attended, adding: “We are very grateful for the support and a special thank you goes to Tom Ashton and Phoebe Pearce for all their work in organising the evening.”

“The funding will help towards funding various projects and events to boost footfall in Burnham’s town centre, from our Christmas lights display and switch-on event on November 24th, to several shop window competitions, the ongoing coach project, and the upcoming World Aeroplane Championships on August 26th.”
