Motorist hurt in crash on Mark Causeway near Burnham-On-Sea

A motorist was rescued by fire crews after a vehicle collided with a wall and flipped over in the village of Mark near Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (September 22nd).

The Causeway was partially closed for almost two hours after Police and fire crews were called to the incident near the junction with Harp Road at 3pm, as pictured here.

A reader sent us this dashcam photo of the overturned vehicle minutes after it collided with a wall.

"The fire service was called to assist other agencies with a vehicle that had collided with a stone wall and one male casualty was trapped within the vehicle," said a fire spokesman.

"Two crews from Burnham-On-Sea, the rescue tender from Glastonbury and the rescue tender from Taunton attended."

"The crews stabilised the vehicle and worked alongside ambulance personnel to release the casualty using a spinal board."

This Suzuki was seen being taken away by a vehicle recovery service, along with a second damaged vehicle which was pictured by a local motorist's dash cam on its side.

A day of wet weather had left slippery road conditions across the Burnham-On-Sea area.
