A residential care home in Burnham-On-Sea welcomed the town’s Mayor and Mayoress when it held a special open day at the weekend.

Supporters and residents at the Abbeyfield, which is located in Burnham-On-Sea’s Berrow Road, gathered for a cream tea.

The group welcomed Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor and Mayoress, Bill and Frances Hancock, among the audience members at the event.

“Profit from open day and cream teas was £339.60 which goes to our eight tenants for house projects,” said the group’s Tom Ashton.

“Many thanks go to all the supporters of the Abbeyfield for their support and generosityon the day.”

Abbeyfield is an independent supported living residential home registered with charitable and corporate status and it’s affiliated to the national Abbeyfield charity, based in St Albans.

The Abbeyfield in Burnham has eight residents with an average age of 88. It has been there for four decades.
