Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Youth Day and Parade attracted hundreds of people to the town’s seafront on Saturday (June 10th).

Organised by Somerset Time For Youth, a voluntary group for children and young people with special needs, with the support of BOSH Events, the Youth Day offered a line-up of activities for young people.

Over 60 youngsters took part in a Youth Parade along the town’s beach from Maddock’s Slade to the town’s jetty.

It was led by the town’s Mayor and Mayoress Bill and Frances Hancock, and Town Crier Alistair Murray, pictured above.

Various entertainment was laid on along the seafront lawns through the day with the Carnival Queen Melissa Fear singing, pictured right.

Local Burnham and Highbridge dance groups Dancefit Academy and the Lisa Jane School Of Dance demonstrated their skills.

And other groups taking part included the St John Cadets, BEES and Somerset Time For Youth.

The Mayor told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This has been a really fantastic event and I thank the organisers.”

“I am so pleased to see events like this taking place that support the youth of our two towns, who are our future.”

There were also stalls and attractions set up through the day – and profits raised went towards Somerset Time For Youth.
