Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a large quantity of jewellery was stolen in an overnight burglary in Highbridge this week.

Thieves smashed their way into gold buying company ‘Vault Of Gold’ in Church Street at around 3.30am on Tuesday (May 9th).

Police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called at 3.30am to a burglary at the premises. The offenders had smashed a window to gain entry and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.”

“Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 and quote the crime reference number 5217102694.”

Burnham businessman Steve Thomas, who opened the business in February, said the break-in had come as a shock and that security has been further stepped up.
