Legal action starts over travellers camped at Highbridge Rail Station

-

Legal action has started to move a group of travellers camped on land next to Highbridge Railway Station’s Car Park this week.

The group moved there after leaving Burnham’s South Esplanade lawns and Sailing Club car park last week.

Sedgemoor District Council, which owns the land next to the railway station car park, has started legal proceedings.

Spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The travellers at Highbridge Station are camped on Council land.”

“They were given notice on Friday to vacate over the weekend but still remain on site.”

“We issued legal proceedings on Monday, and will be given a court date. We are estimating that date will be towards the end of the week, as per legal timescales.”
