Travellers move from Burnham-On-Sea seafront after legal action

-

A group of travellers has left Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront this week following the start of legal action.

As first reported here, several caravans and vehicles arrived on the South Esplanade, as pictured here, on land between Quantock Court and the entrance to Burnham Holiday Village last Friday.

They stayed until Tuesday morning when Haven, which owns the seafront land bordering the park, began legal proceedings.

A Haven spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We served the travellers with a formal notice to move at 9am and they left soon afterwards without any problems. We had the police in attendance, but they were not needed.”

The arrival comes after a series of visits by travellers last year at locations in and around Burnham, prompting action to dissuade them from pitching up on public sites.

The travellers were parked on The Esplanade for four nights
