Election to be held in June to fill Burnham-On-Sea town council seat

-

An election is to take place in Burnham-On-Sea on June 8th to fill a vacant town council seat.

There is a vacancy on Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council in the Burnham South Ward following this month’s resignation of Cllr Paul Young, as first reported here.

Town Clerk Tatiana Cant told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “An election has been requested to fill the Town Councillor vacancy. It will take place on the same day as the General Election: 8th June and voting will be in the Polling Station in the Old Courthouse, Jaycroft Road.”

If an election had not been formally requested by April 28th then the vacancy could have been filled by co-option.

Burnham-On-Sea.com understands the cost to the Town Council of running an election will be approximately £4,000.
