A Burnham-On-Sea pensioner has proven that age if no barrier to fitness by running all six of the world’s major marathons over the last two years.

Sue Nicholls completed her 13th marathon earlier this year at the age of 72 and has been awarded a medal in recognition of her feat.

“Because I’ve completed London, Boston, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Berlin I qualified for this medal which is really impressive,” Sue told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Sue – who is in training to run part of the Great Wall of China in 2018 – says she only started running nine years ago and hasn’t looked back since, regularly taking part in events around the world.

“Age is no barrier – I love running. It keeps your body and your mind active,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“My latest marathon was the Berlin marathon, which I completed in four hours and 21 minutes.”

She added: “I’ll be taking part in the London Marathon next April and then running 5,000 steps of the Great Wall Of China next May.”

“That will be an incredible experience – I’m really looking forward to it.”
