Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge students launch candle company

-

A group of entrepreneurial Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge students from King Alfred School’s sixth form have created a new range of eco and vegan candles as part of a Young Enterprise programme.

The group, pictured here, are taking part in the UK Young Enterprise Company Programme, and have created a company called Calore – Italian for warmth – selling their distinctive range of eco and vegan candles.

They have enjoyed a very successful week as they start to grow their business in the run-up to Christmas.

Their candles are called Christmas Spice, Christmas Pudding, Pine and Peppermint, Mulled Wine and Vanilla.

“At Winscombe Christmas Market this week they sold 75% of their stock – and Christmas Spice was their best seller; they are now rapidly manufacturing more candles in time for the Christmas season,” Head of sixth form Jonathan Gaskell told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Calore are led by Managing Director Sasha Moores and her successful team includes Sales Director Tom Sala-Rich, Administration Officer Leanne Thomas and Finance Assistant Michael Hainsby, all of whom attended a Dragons’ Den event at Taunton School this week.”

“Calore are now building on the advice received from the Dragons, including selling their products online under the leadership of IT Director Thomas Nullmeyers.”

“Calore are hoping to sell their candles in the Burnham-On-Sea area very shortly so look out for their professional brand as you all shop for Christmas presents.”
