Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has made a special visit to a town school where he met pupils and staff.

James Heappey spent Friday morning at St Andrew’s Junior School where he was shown around by Acting Head Teacher Ali Pook to see the children in their learning and discuss a range of matters.

He also met with the school council members and discussed what they felt the strengths of the school are, as well as their ideas for improving school life and the provision for children in the town.

James discussed how he can support the children’s learning about democracy and he will be visiting again to lead some workshops.

Head teacher Ali Pook said: “This is the start of some exciting work on developing the children’s understanding of British values and the role democracy has in our lives.”
