Police have said that the death of a man in Highbridge on Sunday (April 2nd) is being treated as ‘unexplained’.

Police were called to the railway line near Highbridge and Burnham Railway Station shortly after 11.45am where they found the man on the line.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson confirmed: “We were called to the railway line near Highbridge and Burnham station at 11.47am following reports of an injured man on the tracks.”

“Officers were in attendance, alongside the local ambulance service, but sadly the man died at the scene. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained.”

The Market Street railway bridge next to the station was closed by Police throughout the afternoon, as pictured, and rail services were also dispruted while the Police investigation got underway.
