Colourful hand-made quilts go on show at Burnham-On-Sea church

-

A display of colourful hand-made quilts and flowers is on show at Burnham-On-Sea’s Catholic Church throughout this weekend to mark its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs in Highbridge Road, Burnham is well worth a visit and is open today (Friday) and Saturday 16th and 17th June from 10am to 5pm and then Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

Organisers Sue Harvey, the floral artist, and Pat Nicholls, the quilter, are both members of the church, have invited flower groups, churches and quilters to join in and show their work, making it a community event.

Pat has been creating quilts and teaching patchwork and quilting for many decades and was a founder member and at one time, President of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles.

Sue has been flower arranging in various churches and flower groups for many years. “We promise a riot of colour, a friendly welcome, and, of course, tea and cakes,” she told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
