Avon and Somerset Police issue statement after London terror attacks

-

Communities across Somerset are being urged to remain calm but alert following terror attacks in London on Saturday night (3rd June).

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has issued a statement following the attacks in which seven people died and dozens were injured.

“Firstly, our thoughts are with all those affected by the events in London last night,” it says.

“Our hearts go out to all the families and friends who have lost loved ones in this callous attack.”

“The sustained threat of terrorism casts a shadow across all our communities and our priority is to reassure them that we’re doing everything we can to keep them safe.”

“There is currently no known specific threat to the South West but we have well-rehearsed multi-agency plans in place which are regularly tested and reviewed during exercises with blue light partners such as ambulance, health and fire to ensure we are prepared.”

“As a matter of course we constantly review and assess our local security arrangements for events and crowded places.”

“At times like these it’s more important than ever that we stand together as a community and unite against this kind of horrific attack.”
