A pole dancing evening held in Brean has raised over £2,800 for a local charity.

Local pole dancing fitness group Pole Essence organised the annual charity showcase event on Saturday 18th November, with members performing a number of routines at The Beachcomber.

All the funds raised are going to The Rowan Suite based at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton which helps couples after baby bereavements.

Studio Essence is a pole fitness and aerial hoop school based in Highbridge, and all the performers that participated in the event are students or instructors from Studio Essence.

The show – which had a theme of Heroes and Villains – consisted of solo performances, plus duets and groups. One group routine had nine people on stage.

“A total of £2,865 was raised in aid of The Rowan Suite, but the show gives the students of Studio Essence, a chance to show off what they can do to friends and family, as well as raise money for charity,” said the group’s Sam Smith.

“Studio Essence would like to thank The Beachcomber for putting on the event, without their help and support it would not be possible to have the event and raise such a fantastic sum of money.”
