-

Children from Brent Knoll ad St. Andrew’s Primary Schools have taken part in a unique coastal poetry event this week.

The Year 6 pupils from the two schools teamed to study and write sea-themed poetry at Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club.

Following an introduction to the club itself, from Rear Commodore Dave Wrennall, the children read a range of poems, and then discussing the intricacies of figurative language with Brent Knoll teacher Paula Baker.

The morning finished with the children composing their own lines of poetry based on what they had seen in and around the boat yard and beach.

“The children really enjoyed being in a different environment, and working at the Club House today inspiredf some great ideas,” said Brent Knoll head teacher, Chris Burman.
