Extended opening hours for Burnham-On-Sea’s Minor Injuries Unit

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Minor Injuries Unit is to keep its summer opening hours all year-round.

From 6th February 2017, the facilities in Love Lane, Burnham-On-Sea will be open daily from 10am–6pm, including over the winter, in a boost to the service.

Dr Nick Broughton, Chief Executive of Somerset Partnership told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the new opening hours are part of a raft of changes across Somerset.

“From 6th February, most of our MIUs will be open from 8am until 9pm every day. For half our MIUs this will be a small reduction in hours, and for half it will be a slight increase.”

“For our seaside resort towns, there is an exception where Burnham-On-Sea will keep its extended summer time hours all year round and Minehead will keep round the clock access to MIU staff.”

“We have done this in response to ongoing challenges of recruiting and retaining the highly specialist nurses that run these services and the continuing chance of unplanned closures that we have experienced over recent months.”

“These changes mean we can continue to keep all our units open seven days a week and make sure everyone in Somerset gets fair access.”

“Out of hours, patients can phone 111 for advice and support on services in their local area. For all life-threatening conditions, patients are advised to always phone 999.”
