Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens burst into traditional colour and music on Monday when a May Day celebration was held.

A crowd of spectators turned out to watch the Chalice Morris Men from Brent Knoll perform their traditional dancing, followed by May Pole Dancing from St Joseph’s School, and music from the King Alfred Youth Brass Band.

To celebrate May Day there was also a fairy hunt around the seafront gardens, with a reward for those who completed the challenge.

Organiser Jacqui Strong said the event had been a “great success” and she thanked all those who had taken part and come along.

The free event is run each year by the Friends of Marine Cove and Sedgemoor District Council.
