Burnham-On-Sea student celebrates hat-trick of Tae Kwon-Do awards

An inspirational student at Highbridge's King Alfred School has just won a triple hat-trick of awards - despite having to battle a mystery illness.

Year 9 student Max Bradley has been awarded his 1st Dan Black Belt by the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain.

The success came on the back of his excellent Class 3 pass on the Royal Naval Cadet Physical Training Instructor Course, and his qualification as an Open Water Scuba Diver too.

Max achieved the accolades despite being away from school with a mystery illness for the best part of a school year - and he's now fully recovered.

Head Teacher Denise Hurr said: "Well done to Max for these excellent achievements - especially as he was also struggling with an illness for such a long period. This was a wonderful show of talent and determination."

Mum Sarah Bradley said: "We would like to thank the school for the support they gave Max with his studies from home to ensure his education wasn't adversely impacted. His Head of Year, Mr Tipler, was incredibly supportive."

The Priory Learning Trust, which made Weston's Priory Community School, an Academy Trust, outstanding and one of Britain's best schools, is now supporting King Alfred School.
