Students at Highbridge's King Alfred School are to study Latin

Students at Highbridge's King Alfred School are to study Latin in a new push on literacy and learning.

They are now partnering with Bristol University’s Classics Department for textbooks, training days and other resources.

The studies in Classics will further help to boost literacy and learning right across the school.

English teacher Becky Hewlitt, who is leading the new studies, said: "Our students are so excited about learning Latin. It will benefit them in a huge variety of ways and prepare them for further learning."

The Priory Learning Trust, which made Weston's Priory Community School outstanding and one of Britain's best schools, is now supporting The King Alfred School (KAS).
