Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has opened the 70th annual Highbridge Festival of The Arts today (Monday).

Cllr Michael Clarke praised the long-running, popular festival during an opening ceremony at 9am, pictured above.

This year’s special event runs from 6th-18th March across two venues – The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Community Hall.

Speech and Drama will be held on Monday 6th March and Tuesday 7th March. The dance sessions will run on Wednesday 8th March, Thursday 9th March, Friday 10th March, Saturday 11th March and Sunday 12th March.

Music sessions will take place at The Highbridge Community Hall on Monday 13th March, Tuesday 14th March, Wednesday 15th March, Thursday 16th March, Friday 17th March and Saturday 18th March.

The adult music session will be held in St John’s Church, Highbridge on Saturday March 18th in the evening.

The group’s Maureen Phillips told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are grateful to our generous local Sponsors and The Friends of the Festival for their support in this very special year.”

“All our performers will welcome a large audience at the venues. Come along to see and hear some of the best actors, dancers, vocalists and musicians in the South West.”

Admission will be £2.00 each day on the door, by purchasing a wristband. Festival Programmes will also be available giving details of all the Classes, dates and times of the various sessions.

All Dance Group Session tickets are only available through the Princess Theatre Booking system.
