New Burnham-On-Sea greengrocer boosts trade in town centre

The opening of a new greengrocer in Burnham-On-Sea has helped boost the trade of other food shops in the town centre.

Burnham's Gardiner-Whites greengrocers opened last week at 25 The High Street, offering a mixture of fresh fruit, vegetables and food produce.

Owners Richard and Jax Gardiner-White, pictured, say the business has had a busy first few days.

"We've seen an average of 800 transations a day - and almost 1,000 on Friday alone - so a big thank you goes to all the local people for their support," Richard told

Other traders selling complementary foods have also benefited in the town centre.

Ron Bashford at Truckles farm shop in The High Street told "A good greengrocery store has been long overdue in Burnham and is very welcome - our sales of fresh meat and poultry have definitely been up this past week with extra people in the High Street."

Ryan Mount at Burnham fishmonger Seafoods added: "Our trade has been up over the last week - every day has been busier than expected. More local people seem to be coming into the town centre for their food shop, giving Burnham a shot in the arm."

And Colin Morris at GW Hurleys told "I'm very pleased to see the new greengrocers has opened - it seems to have given a boost to the town centre. The High Street has been busy this past week."
