A Highbridge woman has completed a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience’ of walking along part of the Great Wall of China for charity.

Tracey Kidner and three of her friends have returned this week from a trek along 50km of the famous Chinese landmark, pictured here.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I went with three other friends and we made an unforgettable walk over five and a half days.”

“It was my first trip to the country and it was truly amazing – a real once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

“It was a lot tougher walk than we thought it would be, with many steep steps to go up and down all along the way.”

“We were in a group of 30 people and some of them really struggled, but it was great to help them along. The 30 degree heat added to the challenge.”

Tracey says she’s delighted to have raised £1,100 for Devon and Somerset Air Ambulance from sponsorship from family and friends.

Spectacular views of the landscape around the wall were enjoyed and Tracey says she “has not stopped talking about the trip since getting back!”

During the trek she was also invited to help rebuild part of the Great Wall which was in need of repair – Tracey is pictured here with her brick.
