Burnham-On-Sea MP “surprised” at Theresa May’s decision to call snap General Election

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP says he is “surprised” at the decision by Theresa May to call a General Election.

James Heappey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I left for Westminster expecting a normal week of Parliamentary business so was surprised to hear that we’re now just weeks away from a General Election. However, the Prime Minister has made the right decision.”

“Right now, we need the strongest possible Government with a strong mandate to get the very best deal for the United Kingdom.”

“In the General Election the choice will be a very simple one: do we want the country to be led by Theresa May or Jeremy Corbyn?”

“Locally, I’ll be proud to stand on my record as the Member of Parliament for the Wells Constituency and on my vision for what more we can do to make sure that our part of Somerset continues to be a great place to live and work.”

“The people of the Wells Constituency know the risks of voting for a candidate who would happily give Jeremy Corbyn the keys to Downing Street. By voting for me, they’ll be choosing a hard-working local MP and a strong Prime Minister with the right experience to lead our great country.”
