A Burnham-On-Sea florist has won a competition to find the most patriotic-dressed shop window in the town on Armed Forces Day.

The annual competition was held on Saturday and run jointly by Burnham Chamber of Trade and the Royal Air Forces Association. It was chosen after Burnham’s Armed Forces Day parade through the town centre.

Flowers and Things in Burnham-On-Sea High Street won the trophy for its colourful display of flags and military memorabilia.

The President of the Royal Air Forces Association, Ex-Wing Commander John Bryan, and Mayor Bill Hancock judged the competition.

John, who is pictured at the top of this page presenting the trophy to the shop’s owner Julie Dean, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a superb window, very colourful and patriotic, and very much in the spirit of the day.”
