Burnham-On-Sea firefighters had to force their way into a house to investigate a fire in Highbridge on Thursday (April 13th).

Two fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were sent to a home in Church Street at 3pm following reports of an alarm sounding and a smell of burning.

On their arrival, the crews confirmed that there was smoke issuing from a property. They forced their way inside to make sure no-one was still inside.

After confirming the property was empty, they found a pan of oil alight on a kitchen hob.

The damage was confined to the pan and surrounding area of the hob. Crews made the property safe and carried out ventilation. The duty of care was left with the occupier.
