Council raises objection over plans for eight new Burnham homes

-

Town councillors have raised a formal objection over plans to build a development of eight new homes at a site in Burnham-On-Sea.

An outline planning application has been submitted for eight new homes on land at 150 Berrow Road.

The plans were considered during the latest meeting of Burnham and Highbridge Town Council’s Planning Applications Committee, pictured above.

But councillors are concerned about poor access, traffic congestion, drainage issues and over-development of the site.

Cllr Nick Tolley said: “There would be a lot of traffic coming and going via a narrow lane leading straight onto Berrow Road.”

“Berrow Road is very busy, especially over holiday periods, and these proposed homes would generate extra traffic at a dangerous location.”

Cllr Louise Parkin added: “The plans would be an over-development of the site – they are unsuitable for this location.”

Councillors voted to object against the outline application, although the final decision rests with Sedgemoor District Council.
