Burnham-On-Sea author Dave Eldergill unveils unique walking book

-

A Burnham-On-Sea author has published his first book which gives his unique perspective on a 700-mile walk along the South West Coast Path.

‘A Long Walk Home’ is the first published book by local artist, songwriter, and author Dave Eldergill.

From a wind-swept and cold Studland beach in February to 30 degree Devon sunshine in July, Dave’s journey around the South West Coast Path back to his home in Burnham is an artist’s experience of walking the route.

He decided to embark on the trek, a few days at a time, back to his front door in Burnham and then three years and 700 miles later, he set about writing up his experiences, thoughts, inspirations and impressions.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I didn’t want to write another travel book just describing the beauty of the South West coast, there are already plenty of books available that do that very well.”

“Instead ‘A Long Walk Home’ describes something of my inner journey as an artist, and weaves together an artist’s musings about ongoing art works, childhood memories, song lyrics, and reflections on life, love and the passing of time.”

The South West Coast Path is England’s longest waymarked long-distance footpath and a National Trail.

It stretches from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset.

The book is available through local book shops and Amazon.

Dave is a familiar face around Burnham, where he co-ordinates exhibitions in the Princess Theatre’s Arts Lounge and St Andrew’s Church, as well as liaising with other artists in the town and holding solo exhibitions. He can often be found on a Thursday evening at Burnham’s Ritz Acoustic Club, performing his own songs as part of the Open Mic nights.
