of yachts in Burnham-On-Sea marks end of sailing season
huge cranes towered over the River Brue in Burnham-On-Sea early
on Tuesday morning (October 10th) when 20 yachts were hoisted into
the skies during the annual autumn 'crane-out'.
of Burnham Sailing Club took advantage of a high tide and calm weather
to proceed with the operation to move vessels out of the river into
the club's boat yard.
spectacle happens each October and marks the end of Burnham's summer
sailing season, when boats are moved into safe storage in the club's
boat yard over the winter. It always draws onlookers along the seafront.
club's commodore Erik Torkildsen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We
had around 20 yachts to lift out for the winter - it went very well
and the weather and the calm sea conditions were perfect."
