Over £9,000 has been raised for local charities in the Burnham-On-Sea area following a summer of fundraising at Brean Leisure Park.

A total of £9,361 has this week handed over to the local groups during a special presentation evening held by Brean Leisure Park’s Country Music Club.

The groups benefiting include St Maragaret’s Hospice (£3,000), Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue (£1,000), Hearing Dogs for the Deaf (£500), Leukaemia Care (£500), Wallace and Gromit Childrens Charity (£250), Childrens Hospice South West (£500) and the Injured Jockeys Fund (£3,500).

The park’s John Russell, pictured with several of the cheque recipients, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We thank locals and holidaymakers for all their generosity over the season.”

“The House family are delighted that the various facilities at Brean Leisure Park have been used so successfully to raise magnificent amounts again for charities.”

The events included collections, an emergency services day, and a pro-am golf tournament, among many activities.
