Berrow beach’s car park entrance has been closed this week after stormy tides at the weekend damaged part of the concrete roadway.

Sedgemoor District Council, which oversees the beach car park, shut the entrance at the weekend following the high tides.

“Some of the concrete and sand surrounding the roadway was washed away, leaving deep, sharp edges where vehicles could damage their tyres or their sumps,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Work to repair the concrete roadway has been going ahead this week and we hope to re-open the access road on Thursday.”
