Police have appealed for witnesses following an assault in Burnham-On-Sea town centre at the weekend in which a man was injured and robbed.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was attacked as he walked along South Street towards the direction of Burnham High Street.

Police spokesman Sam Malone told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police are investigating an assault on a man that occurred around 5pm on Saturday afternoon, April 22nd.”

“The man sustained a punch to his face and suffered facial injuries. The offender stole a gold chain from around his neck.”

“We would appeal for any witnesses to come forward by calling 101, quoting the crime reference number 5217089329.”

The latest incident comes after a spate of burglaries in the town centre this month and Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade has this week called on local Police to increasing their presence in the town.
