A group of school pupils marked Ascension Day with a special walk to the top of Brent Knoll.

The children, parents and staff of Brent Knoll Primary left school at 8am last Thursday to walk up the Knoll to commemorate Ascension Day.

At the top of the hill, the children heard readings and prayers before releasing a symbolic white balloon, and then descended to have breakfast in St. Michael’s Church with the Rev Simon Lewis.

In the church, the Rev explained the significance of the day in the Christian church’s calendar.

“For the second year in a row, we were blessed with amazing weather in which to enjoy the spectacular scenery from the top of the Knoll and to celebrate and share this special day,” said Brent Knoll head teacher Chris Burman.
