Brean walkers raise over £1,200 for Children’s Hospice South West

-

Over 40 walkers from across the Burnham-On-Sea area have taken part in a new fundraising walk in Brean, raising £1,200 for charity.

The 2016 Brean Trekathon, supporting Children’s Hospice South West, was held in the village on Sunday September 11th.

The family-friendly sponsored walk started at Brean Leisure Park and three distances wete offered: the longest route followed a trail along the beach to Brean Cove, then over Brean Down to enjoy the fabulous views on the walk to Brean Fort and then return (7.5 miles total).

Those that didn’t fancy the hilly Brean Down section turned around at Brean Cove (5 miles total). There was also a toddler-friendly 1-mile beach walk.

“We had a good turnout for the first year and thank everyone who came along and took part and enjoyed walking along our lovely coastline,” said organiser Mike Barsby.
